Russia has opted for idiocy reversal instead, announced 3 goals:
1. Prevent aggression against Donbas 2. Demilitarization of the current neofascist regime of Ukraine 3. DeNazification of Ukrainian society
Hiroyuki Hamada writes today, Feb25, 2022:
Like a clockwork, without a fail, it happens. Floods of imperial propaganda come out of mouths of friends, family members and anyone else who subscribes to the values, norms and beliefs of the country known to the world as the biggest bully on the planet. Those who kept deafening silence over the bloody US backed coup, massacre in Odessa, regular bombings by Ukrainian forces which have killed over 14000 people, and so on and so forth are signaled to spew anger and hatred against the imperial enemy Russia just as it finally takes an action to stop the killings, neo-Nazi infestation and western economic shock therapy. The ritual virtue signaling of hate, crocodile tears and condescending speech in manifest destiny style really make my brains numb.
Yes, and think back to 2014 and these same people actually did not keep silent, they squealed with delight and self satisfaction at the coup d’etat, they condescended to dismiss all complaint against this, and plugged their ears when told the inevitable consequence of this psychoidiocy: total nuclear annihilation. Russia, though, has opted for idiocy reversal instead.
Nothing makes sense to fascist psychotics though so, pointless to explain it to them. You might as well explain reality to General Jack D Ripper in Dr. Strangelove
For the rest of us, straightforward analysis come in triplet today, three articles from the sane:

From the Black Sea to the East Med, do not poke The Russian Bear
“This was Shock and Awe against Iraq, 19 years ago, in reverse: not for conquest, not as a prelude for an invasion and occupation. The political-military leadership in Kiev did not even have time to declare war. They froze. Demoralized troops started deserting. Total defeat – in one hour.
The water supply to Crimea was instantly re-established. Humanitarian corridors were set up for the deserters. “Remnants” now include mostly surviving Azov batallion Nazis, mercenaries trained by the usual Blackwater/Academi suspects, and a bunch of Salafi-jihadis.
Predictably, Western corporate media has already gone totally berserk branding it as the much-awaited Russian “invasion”. A reminder: when Israel routinely bombs Syria and when the House of One Saudi routinely bombs Yemeni civilians, there is never any peep in NATOstan media.
As it stands, realpolitik spells out a possible endgame (see Donetsk’s head, Denis Pushilin: “The special operation in Donbass will soon be over and all the cities will be liberated.”) … “

If you prefer video, this says it all.
All that needs to be said:
Max Parry says:
Ukraine has been bombing Donbass for 8 straight years killing more than 14,000 people and brainwashed 'Muricans suddenly start crying boohoo, not for the civilians but the Ukrainian armed forces which have Neo-Nazi militias incorporated into their ranks, after Russia finally does something about it. Spare me the crocodile tears!

It’s a bad day for Nazis.
No more half measures. Russian government announced 3 goals:
Prevent aggression against Donbas
Demilitarization of the current neofascist regime of Ukraine
DeNazification of Ukrainian society
1 and 2 are essentially complete, after just a few hours. 3 is underway.
Excellent thread.
"I'm seeing a lot of twitter dialectic nonsense about condemning *both* US/NATO's antagonism & Russia's response & while initially refraining from the futility of commenting on this, I feel it needs to be said that this is a completely unserious approach (to put it politely).
Let’s put aside the fact that Russia tried exceedingly patient diplomacy for 8 years & since the 90s before that.
Let’s put aside that Zelensky literally threatened to void the Budapest memorandum & rearm Ukraine (a nation with several powerful, explicitly fascist centres of political and military power) with nukes.
I’m not going to list every instance of the Ukrainian govt labelling Russians as sub-humans who deserve second-class status if not death.
if Bolivia can support Russia then so can I. If Cuba can, if Venezuela, Syria and Iran can…and so on. Does the significance of Russia’s current role as a sovereign, anti-NATO, anti-US imperialism great power really need to be spelled out?
Will we now conveniently forget Russia's contributions, including in the blood of its soldiers, in key fights against US/NATO around the world?
Or have the aforementioned countries (& others) got it all wrong?
It’s in fact the twitterite coalition who gets to condemn both sides. Because of what? Some misbegotten sense of ideological purity? Sorry, it isn't that easy.
Lastly & for me *most importantly*. What does it mean when neat euphemisms like ‘antagonism’ are used for the US/NATO provocations that caused this war? Because for the people of Donbass it has meant being bombed, terrorised & tortured for 8 years. Countless scars. THOUSANDS dead
& For the resistance in Odessa it meant being burned alive. I will look to their opinions on what Russian intervention means first. Anything else after that. War is always bad & should be avoided. Agreed. But the reasons for war are not so simple. Not so easily dismissed."

"There are all kinds of criticisms that one can level against this move by Moscow, if one feels that the entire western political/media class screaming all of these criticisms in unison does not have enough amplification. For myself, I would just like to point out that the US-centralized empire is the very last institution on this planet who has any business babbling about the 'sovereignty' of other nations. Absolute dead last.
"I say this not out of any kind of fondness for Putin or support for his decisions, but because the absolute worst violator of national sovereignty in the entire world by a truly gargantuan margin complaining about violations of national sovereignty is bat shit insane.
"Pointing out things the US empire has done while it shrieks about the actions of a foreign government will get you accused of 'whataboutism', but it's not a whataboutism. It's pointing out that the US is the absolute least qualified government on earth to comment on the issue at hand, so it should shut the whole entire fuck up about it. If the US wants to legitimately complain about the transgressions of unaligned governments, then it must cease being the worst transgressor ..."

Still holding off judgement before all the facts are in, on the American occupation of Ukraine after its 2014 coup d’etat?
No worries:
Overthrowing the government of Ukraine, as the US did in 2014, to turn it into an anti-Russia, Russia-hating, platform, is something that makes sense only to psychomaniacs:
“So let’s get going, there’s no other choice. God willing, we will prevail, in peace, and freedom from fear, and in true health, through the purity, and essence, of our natural, fluids.
God bless you all.”
Unlike in Dr. Strangelove, where sane heads prevail (well, almost; at least they’re in leadership positions), today we’re all Ripper.
Here’s what that looks like:
To all the rest, it has been obvious that there are only two possible outcomes of the US Ukraine project since 2014:
Total nuclear annihilation (of the world) or
The end of the US Ukraine project.
Sane people (unlike Ripper) prefer option 2.
Insane people prefer option 1.
I guess there are lot of people in neither category, just completely unrealistic dazed and confused people who have no idea about reality.
Now we see, thankfully, the realization of option 2. A great day for most Ukrainians. A bad day for Nazis. Again.
